After a month of voluntary work in Bolivia I understood that I could combine helping these people with finishing my university degree. The idea was born for a production centre with the objective of growing the Tata Esteban Foundation’s work. Currently the foundation works solely on education, providing no continuity for the skills and knowledge transmitted.
In a vast territory of 3 hectares we have distinct residential, production and agricultural zones. Seeing as in Bolivia most people live in self constructed houses, the residential area contains a flexible and easy to use system allowing residents not only to build but also to plan the architecture of their own house.
The production center itself lies beneath a large roof, thus creating a space for both work and community gatherings. The bamboo used for the structure of this roof as well as the adobe used for building the houses are locally abundant and were studied in depth to be utilized in their maximum potential.
